Heat
Recovery Ventilation is one of the most important, and most overlooked,
requirements in any modern well insulated home.
A well insulated
and airtight dwelling is the only way to restrict energy loss. But this
also causes problems. How do you ventilate? Relying on natural air
changes through cracks, gaps or untight windows is no longer an option.
Opening windows and doors or having tickle vents defeats the purpose of
building an energy efficient house. With a GENVEX Heat Recovery
Ventilation System you can have both - an energy efficient house with
controlled constant natural fresh air ventilation with almost no heat
loss.
Heat Loss

The diagram above shows the
proportion of heat energy escaping through the building envelope. It
shows how many litres of heating oil are consumed per m2 each year. The
data for older buildings is shown in pink and those for low energy
housing in red.
Benefits of a GENVEX Heat
Recovery System
Moisture build up from bathing and
cooking can be avoided thus eliminating mould grown.
Fresh filtered air constantly
replaces the stale air inside your home so no more unpleasant odours
from smoking, cooking, bathroom or pets
Helps maintain healthy humidity
levels in your home making it less inviting to dust mites.
Helps to save money by reducing
your heating requirements by reusing the heat that would normally be
lost through uncontrolled ventilation.
What is a Heat Recovery
Ventilation System?
 |
A
ventilation appliance is usually mounted in your loft or utility
area, connected via ductwork to ceiling terminals. One fan
extracts stale warm air through these terminals from your wet
rooms (kitchens, bathrooms etc) and takes it to the ventilation
appliance to be exhausted outside. |
| |
|
 |
Meanwhile,
another fan draws fresh filtered air from outside and supplies
it through ceiling terminals in the habitable rooms of your home
(bedrooms, dining rooms, studies, living rooms). |
| |
|
 |
During this
process, a heat exchanger within the appliance transfers up to
95% of the heat from the outgoing stale air to the incoming
fresh air.
In warmer
months, the heat recovery process can be bypassed to ensure that
cooler fresh air enters the home. |
GENVEX Range
Genvex produce four categories of
HRV units
1) Standard Range -
basic heat recovery ventilation
2) Enhanced Range -
heat recovery ventilation with heat pump offering additional heat boost
to the incoming fresh air.
Also available with comfort cooling option.
3) Combi Range - heat
recovery ventilation and domestic hot water
4 Vanvex Range -
domestic hot water provision
Genvex DO NOT produce a "One size
fits All" unit. It is important that the HRV unit is correctly
sized to suit your home. Too big a unit and it causes air turbulence,
too small a unit and it is ineffective.
We also use Lindab Safe duct
fittings and a solid spiral duct. Inferior ducting will not allow your
system, or any HRV system, to operate properly.
